Developed by Joseph H. Pilates in the 1920’s, Pilates is a system of exercise that targets the deep muscles of the abdomen and spine to strengthen your body from the inside out! Instead of just working on the “vanity muscles” – the muscles you see in the mirror – Pilates strengthens the “postural muscles” – the internal, stabilizing muscles of your body – so that your posture, balance and core strength all improve while you sculpt your body.

Madelen

Madelen has been practicing Pilates for 15 years. She was certified in Pilates mat at The Room in Vika in 2015 and in the reformer a few years later. After completing her certification, she started teaching Pilates mat and pre and post-natal classes at The Room. A few years later she opened The Private Place, an intimate studio with the motto “Pilates for everyone.”

In every class Madelen makes sure to give each client personal feedback and a workout regime that will completely change their body.
Madelen is an eternal student and Pilates enthusiast who is continuously studying and taking classes with her mentors so that she can give the best up-to-date Pilates training to her clients.

Cyrena

Cyrena is a dancer and pilates instructor from New York City. She started practicing Pilates over 25 years ago when she was 13 years old, to accompany her ballet training. Cyrena had the gift of studying with her mother, Helen Drusine, one of the original Pilates instructors who studied with Joseph Pilates himself and with Romana Kryzanowska, Pilates’ protégé.

Cyrena is a dancer and pilates instructor from New York City. She started practicing Pilates over 25 years ago when she was 13 years old, to accompany her ballet training. Cyrena had the gift of studying with her mother, Helen Drusine, one of the original Pilates instructors who studied with Joseph Pilates himself and with Romana Kryzanowska, Pilates’ protégé. Cyrena received a certificate in Pilates Mat from Power Pilates and then completed her training with a bridge program from Roberta Kirshenbaum at Rolates Pilates, the original Joseph Pilates studio in New York City. When Cyrena is not teaching pilates she teaches and performs Argentine Tango. She has taught and performed around the world and in 2018 she was a finalist in Norske Talenter.

Cyrena´s pilates classes are based on the classical Pilates system, focusing on alignment, building strength, flexibility and coordination. Using her expertise from dance and movement, her classes fly by, flowing from one exercise to the next, while giving you a full body workout.
